Education: Dr. Pigozzi holds a Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University in Education Administration and Adult Continuing Education. Her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees are from Miami University in Ohio.

Recent Positions: Dr. Pigozzi was most recently the director of the Division for the Promotion of Quality Education at UNESCO in Paris. Prior to that posting, she was Acting Chief of Education at the United Nations’ Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in New York. 

Leadership Activities:

  • Chair of the UNAIDS Inter-Agency Task Team on HIV/AIDS and Education
  • Member of UNESCO High Level Panel on Education for Sustainable Development
  • Invited to be a Founding Trustee of Newly established Association for Strengthening Higher Education for Women in Africa (ASHEW)
  • Invited to be a member of the International Working Group on Assessing Quality Learning.  This is a multi-agency group concerned with learning outcomes.  It is convened by UNESCO, the lead education agency for the UN system
