After-School Science PLUS (AS+) Institute EEC/AED will conduct an After-School Science PLUS (AS+) Institute to prepare after-school practitioners from 15 sites in New York City to implement After-School Science PLUS (AS+). AS+ is a hands-on, minds-on science program designed to help students to feel enthusiastic about science, learn content in the physical sciences, participate in fun literacy activities, think of themselves as scientists, and have a great time with content-rich activities. After-School Science PLUS is a Great Science for Girls recommended curriculum. The participating sites and staff will be self-selecting from TASC's NYC sites. Each participating site will receive two on-site technical assistance visits to help them implement the AS+ program. Four staff development sessions will take place at the TASC offices from October 2007 through June 2008. Each participant will receive an After-School Science PLUS Activity Guide. Each site will receive an After-School Science PLUS Facilitator's Guide, a bin of hands-on materials and children's literature to help implement the program. Contact: Linda Colon
