This project supports the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in its efforts to raise awareness about and improve diagnosis and management of concussion, also called mild traumatic brain injury. With assistance from an expert panel and CDC's partners, the project produced and widely disseminated an award-winning tool kit for physicians and conducted a series of trainings on the issue for health care providers. Based on user feedback, expert input, and focus groups, AED currently is developing a similar kit for athletic coaches, incorporating a video and other materials for coaches, athletes, and parents. AED will assist CDC in pilot testing the kit prior to a national launch of the coach campaign.
