The Capable Partners Program (CAP) is a "Leader With Associates"(LWA) Cooperative Agreement to strengthen the organizational capacity and sustainability of NGOs, NGO networks, intermediate support organizations (ISOs) and coalitions. CAP adapts approaches to indigenous NGO/ISO contexts that have proven successful in the past. CAP is designed to strengthen organizations in any sector—or across multiple sectors—such as health, environment, education, information technologies, gender, conflict mitigation, business development or civil society. It may be used by individual missions, regional programs or other operating units to improve NGO technical and organizational capacity and to strengthen partnerships among the NGO sector and government, business, labor, faith and other sectors. Core activities include training programs, customized technical assistance, small grants programs and NGO learning resources and tools that advance USAID objectives around the world. CAP also may support work in any technical sector or across sectors to advance specific NGO-strengthening objectives through Associate Awards.
