The Liberia Community Peace Building and Development project, known locally as “Diompilor,” aims to help Liberians create peace and prosperity by strengthening civil society, fostering community-based social and economic development and strengthening access to and utilization of information and communications systems. AED has overall responsibility for Diompilor and its partner, Mercy Corps, leads the program’s field operations in Liberia. The program also brings together Liberian-Americans, Liberians and other friends of Liberia in the United States to mobilize material, in-kind, human, and financial resources. Five Liberian partner non-governmental organizations are receiving training and technical assistance to build their organizational capacity, and Diompilor has begun activities in 98 communities.
