As a subcontractor to JSI Research & Training Institute, AED's work on the Making Medical Injections Safer Project is designed to prevent the transmission of HIV and other pathogens through injections given for medical purposes. Funder by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), AED provides technical support at the global and country levels in the area of behavior change, advocacy, and communications to promote safety in medical injections. AED is collaborating with locally hired teams in ten countries: Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda.
