Community Guide Recommendations: Obesity

Location: North AmericaUnited States
Funder: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Duration: This project is no longer active.

The Community Guideline Recommendations Project is a CDC-funded initiative to translate scientific recommendations on obesity prevention practices for the workplace into materials for use by employers across the US. The project has two phases: 1) materials development and dissemination and 2) evaluation. Phase 1 builds upon AED's experience translating research into an easily accessible and relevant format to be used by the target audience. During Phase 1, AED is conducting a target audience analysis to define, understand and segment the universe of workplaces in the US. Once the target audience has been segmented, AED will conduct formative research with the materials audience (i.e. employer human resource and benefit managers) to understand the benefits and barriers to implementing the Community Guidelines recommended obesity prevention workplace programs. AED will then develop and test materials among the target audience, before disseminating the final product. In Phase 2, AED will conduct a process and outcome evaluation to track materials distribution and workplace adoption of the recommended workplace interventions to reduce obesity.
