Zimbabwe Leadership & Investment in Fighting an Epidemic (ZimLIFE)

Location: Sub-Saharan AfricaZimbabwe
Funder: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Duration: This project is no longer active.

ZimLIFE is a national, multi-pronged effort to establish and expand HIV/AIDS programs and policies available in the workplace in Zimbabwe. ZimLIFE provides training and technical assistance, fosters public-private partnerships, and develops information, education, and communication (IEC) materials – all for the ultimate goals of HIV prevention, stigma reduction, and preserving the human rights of infected yet able-bodied workers. ZimLIFE also administers grants and assists companies in establishing HIV/AIDS workplace programs and policies. One of the most significant contributions ZimLIFE has made was the creation of a diverse, national advisory board that monitors the country-wide effort. As the project concludes, the emphasis will shift to developing and passing along information and lessons learned to the larger public health community in the hopes that business, labor, and governments will continue to work together in public-private partnerships to diminish the spread of HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe.
