The Afterschool.org/PPAS System, which was launched on a national level in January, 2003 includes:

-             A process for collecting, identifying, and disseminating promising practices in afterschool programs.  Practices are submitted by afterschool programs and peer-reviewed based on criteria developed by the PPAS advisory panel.

-              A moderated electronic listserv with subscribers from afterschool programs; community-based organizations; school systems; local, state, and federal agencies; intermediary organizations; research and academic institutions; and other entities with a stake in afterschool.

Afterschool.org/PPAS System provides a lens through which practitioners can better understand the promising practices that lead to positive outcomes for children and youth.  Through this process, they will learn to be more intentional about their work.  The Afterschool.org/PPAS System can be an integral piece of training and planning for afterschool staff who are committed to improving the quality of their programs.

By sharing what works, the AED Center for Youth Development and Policy Research is creating a learning exchange and building a field that helps children and youth reach their full potential.
