CroNGO focuses on improving the capacity and legitimacy of organizations within Croatia and activating citizens to improve their quality of life. AED carries out the CroNGO program through grants, training and technical assistance to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and through citizen groups around the country. The project addresses issues of public perception, cross-sectoral cooperation, transparency and professionalism and community mobilization. Over 140 small grants (up to $25,000) have been disbursed to NGOs for a variety of projects, including a service provision for at-risk and marginalized community members, renovation of community spaces, environmental education, tourism promotion and skills development. Training-of-trainer workshops resulted in a Trainers Code of Ethics, signed by over 30 Croatian trainers.
