dot-EDU - Technology Tools for Teaching & Training in India (Project T4)
Location:
Asia & the Pacific
,
India
A primary focus of this activity is to provide initial capacity building for partner institutions in three states, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, to improve access to and the quality of primary education, especially among girls and other vulnerable populations. The focus of this activity is to promote collaboration and dissemination of lessons learned between the three states and to improve content and methods of teaching English, math, and science through multiple media channels, including radio, mobile video units, and multi-media computer labs. It is designed to complement and support the Government of India’s objectives for universal education by 2003, and is built on current successes at the national and state levels to further ensure educational quality and to improve access for under-served communities. As part of its broader strategy, the project seeks to deliver better training, support and hands-on practice for educators and students by deploying ICTs such as interactive radio instruction. Most importantly, it actively supports ongoing innovations in the sector, particularly existing models that offer opportunities for replication and scalability. This activity continues to produce TV and radio programming that takes a particular focus on reaching girls and scheduled caste.
