Duration: This project is no longer active.

The Racial and Ethnic Adult Disparities in Immunization Initiative (READII) is helping the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) National Immunization Program (NIP) boost influenza and pneumococcal vaccination rates among African Americans and Hispanics ages 65 years and older.  AED provides consultation, training, and technical assistance to health departments and their partners in five pilot sites to help them build their health communication and social marketing capacity. Lessons learned from READII will help NIP develop a national effort to increase immunization rates, especially among racial and ethnic minorities.
