Through grants to local nongovernmental organizations, NVCR supports community-based projects that give voice to moderates and promote non-violent approaches to conflict resolution in the Palestinian Territories. Grant-funded activities are diverse, including training of trainers in non-violence, a magazine about non-violence and training of TV hosts in moderating roundtable discussions in a way that promotes dialogue about non-violent conflict resolution. Six hundred middle-school students in 14 schools in Gaza were trained as school peer mediators. A 26-part soap opera, aimed at 16- 25-year-olds, was broadcast on all of the independent Palestinian radio stations and emphasized using non-violent methods for resolving conflicts both within the community and regionally.
